If you are in a newer version, it should bring you to a side menu.

This should bring you to either one or two screens depending on your console version. PlayStation has a rest mode that can be used instead of completely turning the console off or completely keeping it in the regular model.

The other way to put the console into rest mode is to press and hold the ps logo on your ps4 DualShock controller. Everything should then follow fairly simply, and your data should be synced. The orange light means that it is in rest mode. You can then turn both consoles on and, on your PS5, go to settings, then system, then system software, then data transfer, and follow the instructions, which will require you to press some buttons on your PS4 too. That can be done either by connecting both consoles to the network, either over WiFi or wired connections, or connecting them together with an ethernet cable. Another member, Schumi 01 has reported the same problem and a quick Google brings up reports of it but no fix. To go on standby, or Rest Mode, on your PS4, you can press and hold the PS button on the controller, and then select 'Enter Standby Mode' on the screen that displays. I'm sure I had, and the other devices plugged. Turned it on, it gave me a lecture about making sure I power the system off correctly. Yesterday, after going to wake the PS4 from rest mode I was surprised to see it was powered off entirely. Now the console enters rest mode fine but after a few hours the orange light goes off. Throughout the day, when I'm not using it I put it in rest mode, then at night I turn it off completely. Any digital games can just be re-downloaded from the store, discs can be played as normal, and data such as your friends will still be available in just the same way.īut if you don’t, you’ll have to transfer your data over your home network. Monday night it stayed in rest mode all night and was still in this mode Tuesday morning. One thing to note is that if you want to start afresh, you might not need to actually transfer data over. Thankfully it’s also fixed fairly simply, even if it requires a fair bit of work. This is without a doubt the most complicated, and least obvious, of the problems that people are running into with their new consoles.
